Re:  S-1, Affordable Housing

Dear Mayor:

Today, a panel of Mayors testified on S-1, which amends the Fair Housing Act and abolishes the Council on Affordable Housing.    League 3rd Vice President and East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov presented testimony on the League’s behalf.   She was joined on the panel by Elizabeth Mayor (and Past League President) Chris Bollwage, Bridgewater Mayor Patricia Flannery,  Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz,  Marlboro Mayor Jonathan Hornik, Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr and Neptune Mayor Thomas Arnone.

Testifying on S-1

The Mayors applauded S-1 as a positive first step towards much needed reform, and the League will continue with the sponsors in addressing concerns raised by Mayor’s Housing Policy Committee and the Mayors who testified today.

The bill will be scheduled again to be considered by the Senate Economic Growth Committee next Monday, February 8, with a vote to be taken at a later data.

For more on this bill, please contact Mike Cerra at 609-695-3481 x120, mcerra@njslom.com or see our January 22 letter.

Thank you.

Very truly yours,

William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director
