RE: Bills Signed into Law

Dear Mayor:

Since last we wrote, various bills have been signed by both Senate President Sweeney, exercising Gubernatorial powers, while Governor Corzine was out of State, and by Governor Corzine, since his return. Below is a list of bills important to local officials, which were signed by Senate President Sweeney.

ACS for A4338 /S3139 – Permits member of volunteer fire company and emergency response squad to hold municipal elective office.

A1263/S3008 - Affords employment protection to certain volunteer emergency responders.

A4293/S3028 - Concerns payment of prevailing wage in certain construction undertaken with BPU financial assistance.

SS forS1538 / ACS for A2859S1538 / ACS for SCS for S2098 / ACS for A3042A2859 - Revises law concerning tastings and samplings conducted by certain alcoholic beverage licensees.

S2824/A4272 - Permits certain urban police training schools that train at least one class of recruits annually to continue operating.

A1882 /S1807 - Permits three year payoff of accumulated deficits of municipal health insurance funds.

A2178/S986 – Permits surcharge of up to 22% to offset private collection fees for certain delinquent debts owed to courts, counties, and municipalities.

A3740 /S2528 – Provides for regulation of small wind energy systems by municipalities.

A4268 /S3095 – Extends prevailing wage requirements to certain maintenance-related projects.

A4313/S2711 - Revises procedure for reassessment of certain real property by assessor and appeal of assessment by certain property taxpayers.

ACS for A4322/ SCS for S3116 - Revises organization and powers of Capital City Redevelopment Corporation.
