Elected officials and members of the business community attend the
summer program of the New Jersey League of Municipalities Educational Foundation,Inc “New Jersey’s Economy: Stabilizing, But Fiscal Problems Intensify” at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University on July 9.

On July 9, nearly 100 elected and appointed officials along with representatives of the business community attended the summer program of the New Jersey League of Municipalities’ Educational Foundation,Inc. “New Jersey’s Economy: Stabilizing, But Fiscal Problems Intensify” at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. Presentations were made by some of New Jersey’s most respected economists and business people. They discussed the state of the economy and what we can expect from the future.

The moderators and presenters included:

James W. Hughes, Dean of the Bloustein School;
Patrick O’Keefe, Director of Economic Research, J.H. COHN LLP;
Rae Rosen, Assistant Vice President & Senior Economist, Federal Reserve Bank of New York;
John McCormac, Mayor of Woodbridge, former State Treasurer;
Dennis Bone, President, Verizon New Jersey, Chairman, New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, Member, “Choose NJ” & Chairman of State Employment & Training Commission;
Henry Coleman, Professor of Public Policy, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy;
James J. Florio, former New Jersey Governor;
Frank W. Haines, III, Assistant Legislative Budget and Finance Officer, New Jersey Office of Legislative Services;
Edith (Edie) F. Behr, Vice President/Senior Credit Officer, Moody’s Investor Service;
Andrew P. Sidamon-Eristoff, New Jersey State Treasurer.

Setting the tone for the half day program was a presentation by Dr. James Hughes, Dean, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy who presented highlights of a his recent paper, “2010: A Stabilizing Economy but Uncertainties Remain” (authored by Dr. Hughes and Dr. Joseph Seneca of Rutgers).
