League Press Conference
Paunches Census 2010

On April 1 in Trenton, Governor Jon S. Corzine joined League President and Mayor of Hope Township Tim McDonough, and Evesham Mayor and League Board Member Randy Brown, Chairman of our Census 2010 Awareness Committee, to launch the one-year countdown to the 2010 Census.

Mayor McDonough noted, “With the official Census Day just one year away, April 1, 2010, the State League of Municipalities, Governor Corzine and the US Census Bureau are launching today the beginning of a year long effort to get out the Count in New Jersey.”

“Stand up and be counted,” Governor Corzine said. “The recent federal stimulus program that provided funding to states according to their population shows just how important it is that New Jersey receives its fair share based on an accurate count of every resident in the Garden State.  In addition, the results of the 2010 Census will be used to distribute more than $300 billion dollars in federal funds each year to states and local communities. That’s why it’s so important that every New Jersey resident is counted in the upcoming 2010 Census.”

The Governor also thanked the League for taking the initiative in getting out and preparing for 2010 count.
