Re:    Ethics Training Available from NJLM

Dear Mayor:

We feel that it is vitally important for all elected and appointed officials to be aware of the ethics landscape especially given national, state, and local developments.  We encourage you to visit the Ethics Resource Center at the League web site.  There you will find numerous articles that give tips on ethical conduct and help explain new developments in local government ethics, written by expert attorneys and members of state and local governments.

We also encourage you to check out our newly revised Elected Officials Handbook.  The Handbook contains the text of the Local Government Ethics Law, as well as several informative articles.  You will also find text and explanations of the Open Public Meetings and Open Public Records Acts, along with a myriad of information important to elected officials, whether you are new to politics or have just been re-elected.  You can order the Handbook here: http://njslom.com/Elected-Officials-Order-Form.pdf

The League can also arrange for a seminar in your municipality for all employees or for employees from a combination of municipalities.  Bill Kearns, League General Counsel, has been offering this seminar for the past three years, and has been advising towns as municipal attorney for much longer than that.  If you are interested, please contact Bill Kearns at (609) 877-6550 ext. 213 or at wjk@kvklaw.com

We are committed to providing the latest information to you and your staff on the broad spectrum of issues you deal with in governing your community and if you have any questions on our overall service offerings please do not hesitate to contact our staff attorney, Matthew Weng, at 609-695-3481 ext. 137, or mweng@njslom.com.

Very truly yours,

William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director
