The Governor’s Task Force on the Local Government Ethics Law has completed its work and its report has been submitted to the Governor and to the Legislature. The report has been released and is available on the League’s website. You can access the report at: http://www.njslom.org/letters/EthicsTaskForceReport.pdf.
The report recommends increased ethics training for public officials and employees. The League has provided ethics training in its seminars, especially the program for newly elected and re-elected officials and in the programs at the Annual Conference. We have also assisted municipalities that have wanted to offer “in-house” training for their officials and staff. We will continue and will expand the opportunities for ethics training.
We encourage you to attend the ethics programs at the Annual Conference, next week. The Ethics in Government session, on Wednesday, November 17th at 10:45 a.m., will be chaired by Mayor Virginia Betteridge of Runnemede Borough. Mayor Betteridge served as a member of the Task Force along with League General Counsel, William Kearns, who will be one of the panelists on the Ethics in Government program.
We hope to see you there.
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
