Re: Division of Pensions & Benefits Group Counseling Sessions
Dear Mayor:
Due to increased demand for retirement counseling, starting September 13, 2010, the Division of Pensions and Benefits will begin to offer Group Counseling Sessions at its office at 50 West State Street, Trenton, New Jersey.
The Division has developed these Group Counseling Sessions for members of Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) and Teachers’ Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) who are planning to visit their office to obtain information and/or file their application for retirement.
During the sessions, attendees will be provided with an official Estimate of Retirement Benefits and their counselor will go over the estimate during the session to explain all of the benefit options and the retirement process. The counselor will also explain post-retirement issues such as taxes and health benefits. After the session you will have an opportunity to ask the counselor individual questions and have the opportunity to file your retirement application during this session.
The sessions are offered at 9:00 a.m. on the following dates:
September 13 October 4 November 1
September 17 October 6 November 3
September 20 October 8 November 5
September 21 October 15 November 12
September 24 October 18 November 22
September 27 October 22 November 24
September 29 October 25 November 29
October 27
October 29
Group Counseling Sessions will be limited to 15 attendees to ensure that the staff can provide a high level of personal service. Therefore, Group Counseling Session attendees cannot sit with another counselor after the session – a separate counseling appointment is needed for one-on-one counseling and will be considered unnecessary.
Seating at the Group Counseling Session is limited and members interested in attending must register online at www.state.nj.us/treasury/pensions/workshop-intro.shtml
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
