Re:      Pension Training for Certifying Officers

Dear Mayor:

The Division of Pensions and Benefits has recently announced the return of the Pension Processing training for Certifying Officers and other personnel who are responsible for pension and benefits at the local municipalities.  The program has been completely re‐designed to include new laws and rule changes.  The programs are offered in two separate sessions that complement each other.

PENSION PROCESSING 102 (Local Government Employers)
Enrollments, Benefits Overview, and Online Systems
This session covers enrollment rules and procedures for the PERS, PFRS, and DCRP and presents a brief overview of the benefits of each of the plans.  Introduction to the EPIC system, where employers can access to their employees' pension account information for processing and inquiry as well as the MBOS system, which allows employees and retirees to access their own accounts.

PENSION PROCESSING 202 (Local Government Employers)
Processing, Reporting and Health Benefits
This is a continuation of the 102 class that provides training on the employer’s responsibility in pension and benefit administration including purchase of service credit, loans, retirement, health benefits, and death claims, with an emphasis on how to use EPIC for these tasks.  There is also an in‐depth look at quarterly reporting and the IROC and TEPS systems that employers use to complete their required reporting and payments. Finally, there is a brief overview of benefits under the State Health Benefits Program (SHBP).

These programs will be offered in two formats: live classroom training in Mercer County, and live webinars done on-line using GoToMeeting.  To register for these programs, please click the links below.
