Re: Changes to the DLGS Website

Dear Mayor:

The following changes have taken place on the Division of Local Government Services website.

1. Test Date Change for April 2010 Registered Municipal Clerk Exam: Due to a scheduling conflict with the School Board Election, the date of the next Registered Municipal Clerks exam has been changed from April 21 to April 28, 2010.  Please inform all those in your office who may be applying for the exam.  Any questions please e-mail dkaminski@dca.state.nj.us or call 609-292-9757.

2. The NJ State Industrial Safety Committee and the UMDNJ will be hosting a warehouse safety course on May 26, 2010 at Anheuser-Busch, 200 US Highway 1, Newark, NJ.  Course objectives will include identifying the hazards of operating a powered industrial truck in warehouse and storage facilities, illustrate the hazards associated with materials handling in warehouse operations and discussions regarding exit routes, emergency action and fire prevention plans.  You must register by May 7, 2010 (seating is limited).

3. NJ-GMIS, the State's association of government technology leaders, is hosting its 1st Annual Technology Education Conference on April 21 at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, NJ.  This first of its kind event is designed for New Jersey's municipal, K-12 school, county, and state agency IT leaders from around the state.  Session topics include Emergency Services and Technology, an Update on the State Broadband plan, updates on State GIS, construction permitting, digital tax maps, Disaster Recovery, Security, Cloud Computing and Social Media as well as vendors who will be exhibiting throughout the event.  Register at reduced rates at the NJGMIS website at www.njgmis.org/conference.html.

4. The Division of Taxation recently mailed applications for the 2009 property tax reimbursement (PTR) program to senior citizens and disabled residents who may be eligible.  The deadline for filing the applications is June 1, 2010.  Citizen inquiries can be made by calling 800-882-6597 or e-mail to nj.taxation@treas.state.nj.us.
