We are aware that redevelopment efforts have been affected by a struggling economy that persists throughout the country. This economic crisis may have negatively impacted your redevelopment and revitalization efforts further stalling the forward progression of projects.
We have good news! The NJRA Redevelopment Training Institute (NJRA RTI) and the New Jersey League of Municipalities (NJLM) are pleased to announce an upcoming opportunity for redevelopment training. On April 13-16, 2010, we will offer a course on the Redevelopment Planning Process to be held at NJN Studios in Trenton, NJ.
The Redevelopment Planning Process, taught by the redevelopment and environmental law firm, Maraziti, Falcon & Healey, is a 3 1/2-day dynamic and engaging course, which explores the legal and planning aspects of the redevelopment process in New Jersey. Case studies will be used to demonstrate the successes and pitfalls of redevelopment planning.
Additional topics will include:
- Designating an area in need of redevelopment
- Creation & adoption of a redevelopment plan
- Selecting a developer
- Negotiating the redevelopment agreement
- Property acquisition and eminent domain
- Recent developments in litigation
Students taking this course can receive 20 Certification Maintenance (CM) or Law credits offered through the American Institute of Certified Planners. The last day of the course offers a panel discussion, which can be taken separately for two (2) CM credits. The Redevelopment Planning Process also qualifies as approved curriculum for the Northeastern Economic Developers Association.
Course Fee: $295
**Scholarship opportunities have been made available to municipalities and nonprofits that wish to enroll in the Institute.
Very truly yours,
