Re: Daily Update
I. “New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act" Scheduled for Assembly Vote
II. Planning for NJ League of Municipalities Annual Conference

Dear Mayor,

LEGISLATIVE ALERT

I. “New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act" Scheduled for Assembly Vote

The League supports A-222 and S-2171, the “New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act”   This legislation would, upon voter approval, authorize the issuance of $125 million in bonds for the purpose of the construction, reconstruction, development, extension, improvement and furnishing of New Jersey’s public libraries.

A-222 is now scheduled for an Assembly floor vote on Thursday, June 22.   S-2171 was approved by the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee on Monday and is now 2nd referenced to the Senate Budget and Appropriations (SBA) Committee.   We are hopeful that the Senate bill will be posted for consideration by the SBA and then proceed to the Senate floor by the end of the month.
Please contact your Legislators and ask for their support for A-222 and S-2171.    Please point out that this funding requires voter approval.    We would also suggest bringing this bill to the attention of your local Library Board of Trustees.

II. Planning for NJ League of Municipalities Annual Conference

To help you plan and get the most from attending the League Annual Conference, the League offers a number of tools available in print and on line.

The June issue of New Jersey Municipalities magazine has a summary conference schedule, and early look at some of exhibitors and some of the highlights you should plan to put on your Conference to-do list.

The information will keep flowing through the magazine’s October and November issues as we take a closer look at the special events, thought-provoking speakers and sessions, as well as the always dynamic exhibit floor. If you don’t receive New Jersey Municipalities visit www.njmmagazine.org for subscription information now to take advantage of these preview insights.

At the League website www.njslom.org, hosts a dedicated annual conference page  njslom.org/2017conf/ which is frequently updated. Everything from schedules to housing, and online registration are found at that page.

This year, the free Conference Mobile App will be back by popular demand with its searchable listings of sessions, speakers, and exhibits. Mark your calendars today for Download Day–October 4.
