To celebrate the Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC) 10th anniversary, we are holding a MWC video contest to give you the opportunity to showcase how your municipality gets active and moving.

The 1st place video will be highlighted on our MWC website and social media to celebrate the conclusion of our 10th anniversary year. The winning video will also be shown at the November New Jersey State League of Municipalities Conference.

The municipality that submits the 1st place video will win $1,000 towards its MWC activities. 2nd prize is $500 towards your municipality's MWC activities. 3rd prize is $250 towards your municipality's MWC activities.

Need ideas? Watch this 2010 video from Mayor Brian Levine of Franklin Township for inspiration.

Here are a few tips to get you started: Keep it simple. Film using your smart phone! Videos should be no longer than 2 minutes.

Please submit your video to Deborah Levine,, by June 1st. Please email your video submissions as a file, or upload your video to YouTube and email the link.

IV. Mayors Committee on Life Sciences 2017 Patient Courage Award

The Mayors Committee on Life Sciences is pleased to announce the creation of a new award program designed to highlight the many inspiring patients in New Jersey.  We will recognize remarkable individuals who have triumphed over adversity despite difficulties due to a serious illness or chronic disease. All New Jersey mayors (not just members of the Committee) are invited to nominate patients from their municipalities who have positively impacted the lives of others through their attitude, actions and advocacy. The Committee will showcase these patients as extraordinary examples of courage, and give them and their families a platform to inspire and educate others about their experiences.

We encourage mayors to nominate a patient for the Patient Courage Award.  Each patient who receives this designation will be invited to participate in an awards ceremony. The event will include the patient, his or her family, friends and care providers, the mayor and (invited) local legislators, and representatives from We Work for Health New Jersey, the Mayors Committee on Life Sciences, and the New Jersey life science community. Additionally, all award recipients will be invited to attend the annual Mayors Committee luncheon in October.
