I. Invitation from NJTV News

Dear Mayor,

NJTV is New Jersey’s public television and NJTV News is extending a special invitation to League members, asking you to send your important local stories and issues to their attention.  Each evening NJTV News broadcasts throughout New Jersey focusing on New Jersey’s priorities, communities and issues.  See how focused their coverage is at NJTVNEWS.org and then send them the issues and priorities that your community is celebrating or working on so they can bring your stories to the entire state.  Their reporters are well-respected for their New Jersey knowledge and sensibilities.  Here is a message from the NJTV News Senior Editorial Producer Evan Gold.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Darcy, CAE, Executive Director
New Jersey State League of Municipalities

Dear League Members,

NJTV News reports on news stories, analysis and commentary from all across New Jersey. We do cover events and issues related to but not limited to the following: education, housing, transportation, health, business, environment, culture. We do not cover the following: violent crime, traffic fatalities, daily sports, pancake breakfasts, product launches, self-help gurus.

Each day there are hundreds of stories proposed by Public Relations firms and freelancers who represent our congressional delegation, state legislature, county prosecutors, and colleges and universities. Much to my dismay, we do not hear from local municipalities about what’s happening in their communities, where the people we are dedicated to serve struggle with issues we need to cover.
It’s in this area, that I hope that we can help each other. I ask that you to reach out to us at NJTV News. Let us know what’s going on in your communities. What are the issues that you’re trying to solve, what’s standing in your way? What are some new approaches to old problems that you’re trying in your school districts, chambers of commerce and police departments? What are new problems developing that no one has proposed solutions to yet?

I’m not interested in finding scapegoats for society’s problems or creating scandals. I am interested in giving greater exposure to communities that don’t have the power or budgets to get their stories out through corporate media.

Please help me do this by contacting me at golde@njtvnews.org or news@njtvnews.org. I look forward to learning about what’s happening in your communities and sharing it with a public that I believe is eager for a new media.

Thank you for your service and your attention.

Evan Gold

Our experts know that a careful reading will reveal innovative options that can be used to redevelop a "restaurant row" and bring businesses and jobs to your municipality. Speakers will consider the impact of diverse restaurants and their ability to serve adult beverages, on economic development. Participants will learn about tools that are currently available, in compliance with State law and regulation, to enable local restaurateurs to compete and prosper locally.
