Re: Prepare for the Census Now

Dear Mayor,

The following information is being sent on behalf of the New Jersey State Data Center, New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development

There is still time to register for the US Census Bureau’s Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) informational workshops.  The LUCA program provides local governments the opportunity to improve the quality of Census and survey data by helping the Census Bureau verify the accuracy of their address information.  Participants can review the address file used for the Census and supply the Bureau with necessary corrections for their jurisdiction.

The U.S. Census Bureau’s New York Regional Census Center will be hosting a series of presentations for the upcoming Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) Program & American Fact Finder Workshop.

Part 1 -The presentation will be an information session about what the LUCA Program is, how it impacts the community/region and how to get involved with the program.

Part 2 - American Fact Finder is a resource that takes the statistical data collected by the Census Bureau on various topics and makes it available to the public in multiple formats including datasets and map/graphic visualizations. The workshop will focus on how to utilize American Fact Finder to retrieve information.
