Re: NJSDC offering free ArcGIS workshop: Using Census Data with Tiger Line
We have been asked by Leonard Preston, Chief, NJ State Data Center to make you aware of the following free training opportunity. Please pass this along to your appropriate staff who may benefit.
Michael J. Darcy, CAE
The New Jersey State Data Center working in cooperation with the Regional Offices of the US Census Bureau is offering half day workshops (approximately 3 hours) for county and municipal staff and clerks on Using Census Data with Tiger Line Shape-files to create thematic maps with ArcGIS software. The primary focus of the workshop will be hands-on computer training with ArcGIS, Tiger Line products and downloadable shape-files from American FactFinder. Additional resources to create thematic maps with Census data will be demonstrated. Attendees should have some familiarity with GIS software. A registration form with date, time and locations and additional details about the facilities, directions, maps, etc. can be found at:
Registrations will be handled on a first come first served basis. To register you must bring a
Wi-Fi enabled laptop to the workshop as there are no computer workstations at the training locations. You will need to preload ArcGIS 60-day trial software on your laptop prior to the workshop. Installation instructions will be e-mailed with your registration confirmation.
Please complete the registration form and fax back to Bernadette Cappetti of the NJ State Data Center staff or e-mail to NJSDC@dol.state.nj.us
Workshops are scheduled for July 22nd in Southern New Jersey at Cumberland County College, August 12th in Central New Jersey at Rutgers University, New Brunswick Campus, and September 16th in Northern New Jersey at the offices of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority. If you have questions regarding the workshops, call the New Jersey State Data Center at 609-984-2595 or e-mail at NJSDC@dol.state.nj.us
Very truly yours,
Leonard Preston, Chief
