Re: Job Training and Advancement Initiative Through Walmart Foundation

Dear Mayor:

As your residents’ economic opportunities improve, your community benefits as a whole.  Job training opportunities in particular can benefit your struggling residents.   It has come to our attention that Walmart and the Walmart Foundation is beginning a five year, $100 million nationwide initiative working with other foundations, employers, community colleges and nonprofit organizations to address a fundamental challenge in America—how to better train and advance workers in  the retail and adjacent sectors.   The goal is to increase economic and career mobility especially for entry level employees in the retail sector. This initiative may be of interest to your municipality as a resource for you residents seeking career training.  For more details and updates follow @WalmartNewsroom which will provide regular updates on the new initiative.  Details can also be obtained at http://cdn.corporate.walmart.com/a1/0e/6fec066e4cf48b9ec4b9f09bcd67/associate-opportunity-fact-sheet.2.pdf

Very truly yours,

William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director
