State Unveils Spending Plan for Third-Round of Federal Sandy Recovery Funding
On Tuesday, December 16, the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs asked for public comments on the State’s plan for the allocation and expenditure of $501,909,000 in CDBG-DR funds (Amendment #11), which the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development allocated to New Jersey pursuant to the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act, 2013 (Public Law 113-2). The State will also accept public comment on the funding proposals selected through HUD’s Rebuild by Design initiative (Amendment #12). Finally, the State will be taking public comment on a reallocation of previously allocated CDBG-DR funds to the Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, Elevation and Mitigation (RREM) Program (Amendment #13).

The comment period, which opened on December 16, 2014, will end on January 15, 2015. All comments must be received on or before 5:00 P.M., on that date. Public comment can be submitted in writing via mail or email (visit the above noted site for details), or can be given in person at one of the two public hearings.
The public hearings will include a short overview of proposed allocations and priorities in the three amendments. Public comments will begin immediately after the presentation. Attendees may give public comment orally, or may submit comments in writing. To ensure maximum convenience for residents, hearings will be held in New Jersey’s northern and central regions pursuant to the following schedule:
