Re: Your Voice Must Be Heard on Transportation Funding
The State’s Transportation Trust Fund has been a major source of funding for local transportation projects for almost thirty years. Now, with the Fund just months away from insolvency, New Jersey Mayors need to make their voices heard NOW.
Through the League’s efforts, we have been given two excellent opportunities to register our preferences on the crucial questions relating to the Fund’s continued strength. We urge you to act, on behalf of your citizens and with an eye towards the future health of New Jersey’s economy.
First, please visit the League’s website and record your answers to the key questions that State policy-makers are now facing, concerning transportation project funding. The survey will remain open until Friday, November 7. The results will be used to inform our discussions with the Legislature and the Administration on this matter. It is accessible at http://forwardnj-njlm.questionpro.com/.
Second, please be sure to attend the Assembly Transportation Committee, which the Chairman has scheduled at our Conference in Atlantic City for the sole purpose of giving local officials a convenient opportunity to be heard on this vital matter. The Committee is scheduled to convene:
Thursday, November 20, 2014
Atlantic City Convention Center
Thank you for all that you do for the people and the future of our Garden State.
Very truly yours,
|Timothy C. McDonough, Mayor
Hope Township, Chairman
NJLM Transportation Trust Fund Task Force
|Robert D. Jackson, Mayor
