I also highly recommend that mayors, council members and other executive leaders of municipalities attend one of the NJ Safety Institute sessions on “Mitigating Cyber and Digital Risks” (the four sessions are identical).  With the ever-growing importance of technology in municipal government, these sessions have valuable information on issues facing municipalities and other public agencies.

Continuing Educational Units (CEUs) are available at these, and many other, Conference Sessions. For a complete listing of CEUs, visit We hope that you will be able to participate at these high tech sessions, in November in Atlantic City.

For more information on these and other sessions, visit the League’s website at or Also, be sure to read more about these sessions and the Conference in the October and November editions of our magazine, New Jersey Municipalities.

Very truly yours,

William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director

At the Annual League Conference Remember to recycle!

The New Jersey State League of Municipalities, Atlantic City Convention Center, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and the Atlantic County Utilities Authority have worked together to provide plenty of recycling opportunities and reminders to recycle at the conference.  On April 21, 1987, Governor Thomas Kean signed into law the New Jersey Source Separation and Recycling Act. The groundbreaking law made recycling mandatory in NJ for residents, businesses and institutions, and required each municipality to implement a recycling plan within one year to achieve a 50% reduction in municipal solid waste. New Jersey was the first state in the country to require every resident to recycle, so while at the conference remember to do your part!
