Re: Preventing Financial Exploitation Post-Disaster Conference
The NJ Department of Human Services has engaged the Office of Continuing Education, School of Social Work, Rutgers University to offer a one-day conference -- Preventing Post-Disaster Financial Exploitation: Lessons Learned from Superstorm Sandy -- on September 19, 2014 on how to prevent, identify and address post-disaster financial exploitation particular to seniors and other vulnerable populations. The conference is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Rutgers’ Busch Campus Center in Piscataway. It is geared to professionals in a variety of fields ranging from behavioral health to business, and emergency management to healthcare. The keynote speaker is Deputy District Attorney Paul Greenwood, a national expert in the area of elder abuse who has led San Diego’s Elder Abuse Protection Unit since 1996; there will also be an expert panel and breakout sessions. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required.
