The Division of Local Government Service’s has posted the following new content on their website:
1. 2014 FDS Filing Update and Local Finance Notice:
Local Finance Notice 2014-6 outlines a new filing procedure that is designed to facilitate efficiency and enhance transparency by using available technology to accept and report financial disclosure statements online. This notice is intended for municipal clerks, county clerks, and other local government entity representatives who have administrative responsibilities concerning financial disclosure statements. Please see our April 25 Dear Mayor letter for additional information.
2. Annual ABC License Clearance Certificates:
As with the past several years, the ABC liquor license renewals will be posted on the GovConnect website for Municipal Clerks to access and print out the certificates for their renewal resolutions. These license renewals are expected to be available in Mid-May. Further instructions will be provided once the renewal certificates are available. Anyone needing assistance with their GovConnect login should send a request to EGG@dca.state.nj.us.
3. Tax Court Judgment List: March 2014:
The State Tax Court has updated their website with the new report for March 2014. It should be noted that you will need to reach out to your town attorney and/or assessor for copies of any stipulations that may have been taken into consideration for these judgments as they will not be listed on the report itself. Please take note that the report is searchable by municipality. Prior reports are available at: www.judiciary.state.nj.us/taxcourt/taxcaseinfo.htm. 1. NJLM Mini Conference Offers Continuing Education on Budget, Ethics, Procurement and More
On June 13, 2014 at the Conference Center at Mercer in West Windsor, the League will offer the Mini One Day Conference. This event will feature about 12 educational sessions on a wide range of topics including Bond Ratings, Elections, Licensing, E-Procurement, Labor Issues, Foreclosures, OPRA, and Ethics to name a few. Many attendees will be able to earn up to 8 CEU credits in one day. The Mini Conference will run from 8:30am - 5:00pm with registration beginning at 7:30am. Pre-registration costs (before June 5) are $90.00 for members and $105.00 for non-members and includes a continental breakfast and buffet lunch. After June 5, 2014 costs rise to $115.00 for members and $125.00 for non-members and must be paid at the door. 2. NJLM Educational Foundation "Energy 101"
The New Jersey League of Municipalities Educational Foundation in partnership with Rutgers Center for Energy, Economics, and Environmental Policy (CEEEP) and the State Board of Public Utilities (BPU) are holding a program titled "Energy 101" on June 17, 2014 from 9:00am-2:30pm at the Rutgers - Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy on 33 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick, New Jersey, 08901. "Energy 101" will be an introductory lesson in the basics of energy. The program will discuss how electricity is generated and distributed and how aggregation works. It will also discuss storm response and resiliency measures that municipalities can implement. In addition, there will discussion about programs and planning that benefits counties, municipalities and consumers. This Foundation event will bring together business and local officials and community leaders to create an understanding of energy policy. This day will include a light lunch.
