Re: Update on Interest Arbitration Cap
It has been five weeks since the Governor and the State Senate took action to extend the strict 2% cap on interest arbitration awards. At this time, the Assembly is next scheduled to come back to Trenton for a voting session on Thursday, May 22nd.
In recent news accounts, Assembly Speaker Prieto has been quoted that he is negotiating with the Governor on a compromise that is good for everyone and looking to strike a balance between the taxpayers and public safety officials.
Thanks to your efforts this important issue has resonated with State policy makers and has kept it as a high priority. We urge you to continue your efforts to assure that the immediate extension of the interest arbitration cap is not lost or overlooked during the state budget debates.
