RE: Affordable Housing, Municipal Affordable Housing Trust Funds
We write to remind you of the Friday, August 2 deadline to reply to the June 25 letter from the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) sent to municipalities and the ‘all affected parties on your service list” to confirm or challenge the figures provided by COAH. COAH’s letter is part of the Court ordered requirement to provide due process to municipalities as the State attempts to seize “uncommitted” municipal affordable housing trust funds.
At the same time, it is highly important that the Mayors of these communities reach out directly to the Governor’s Office at (609) 292-6000 and express opposition to the State’s efforts to seize municipal affordable housing trust funds. Please keep us advised of your communications.
For more on the Appellate Court order please see the League’s Dear Mayor letter of June 11 (http://www.njslom.org/letters/2013-0611-Affordable-Housing.html.) For more on COAH’s June 25 letter and municipal responses, please see the League’s Dear Mayor letter of July 3 (http://www.njslom.org/letters/2013-0703-Affordable-Housing.html.)
Questions can be directed to Mike Cerra at firstname.lastname@example.org or (609) 695-3481, ext. 120.
Very truly yours,
|Janice S. Mironov, President,
New Jersey State League of Municipalities and
Mayor, East Windsor Township
