Re: Jersey Access Group - New League Affiliated Association

Dear Mayor,

The League Executive Board voted at its June 5 meeting to accept the Jersey Access Group (JAG) as an official League Affiliated Association.  JAG is a consortium of community media representatives from New Jersey municipalities formed with the purpose of informing and educating members with the issues municipalities are facing that include connectivity and distribution of information via both internally and externally wired and wireless connections. This includes services by emergency responders, radio stations, television stations, security networks, IT departments and classroom education.

JAG is a New Jersey chapter of NATOA (National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors). This is important because it expands JAG’s mission into all areas of telecommunications to include broadband, right-a-way, franchise fees, wireless communications, and developing technology. This opens membership to all municipalities in New Jersey regardless of them having a local access TV station.

Since 2005 JAG has produced the Eastern Region Community Media Confernece  which is now the largest such event in New Jersey.  The 2013 conference featured a full day of program on the emergency broadband deployment and FirstNet.  As a benefit to all League members, JAG has provided video of the presentations available for viewing for free at the following links

The League is indeed fortunate to be affiliated with JAG and be able to access the municipal expertise and knowledge base their membership represents.  Learn more about JAG at www.jagonline.org

Very truly yours,

William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director
