Re:  Federal Relations Resource News: “The Making of Nation’s Laws” reprinted League
        Federal Relations Webpage Updated

Dear Mayor:

We are pleased to provide you with a copy of our popular reprinted pamphlet, “The Making of Our Nation’s Law.” In the past, this informative brochure has been used by Mayors all around the State for presentations before youth groups, civic associations and other constituent gatherings. It concisely explains how the Legislative Branch operates in the United States Capitol.

Based on the 67 page brochure, written by House of Representatives’ Parliamentarian Charles Johnson, our Federal Relations staff has boiled everything down to a four page piece, without omitting an explanation of any step along the way.

If you find it useful, you can link your municipal website to ours, where the pamphlet appears at http://www.njslom.org/nations_laws.html.

You might also want to visit our “Federal Updates and National Links” page at http://www.njslom.org/federal_updates.html. There, you will find convenient links to resources available through the National League of Cities – America’s oldest and largest association dedicated to the serving the needs of America’s municipal officials.

Other links there will direct you to the latest information concerning both Houses of Congress, the Federal Judiciary, the White House and all Executive Branch Departments and Cabinet level agencies. There are links to the Library of Congress’ Thomas site, for up-to-the-minute information on Congressional actions, and a link to the Federal Register, for the latest regulatory proposals and adoptions.

We’ve also included a link to the U.S. Flag Code, which can answer every question about the proper handling and display of our National Flag.

Finally, remember that you can access the League’s latest letters on Federal issues on our “Washington Watch” page at http://www.njslom.org/washing.html.

Please let us know how we can improve our Federal Relations service. And if you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact Jon Moran at 609-695-3481 ext. 121 or jmoran@njslom.com.

Very truly yours,

William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director
