Re: 2014 Budget Bill Passes Both Houses
Yesterday in Trenton, both Houses of the Legislature passed the State’s Fiscal Year 2014 Appropriations Act (available on our website at http://njslom.org/3000_I1.pdf).
The product of negotiations between both parties in both Houses and between the Legislature and the Governor, the final bill varied little from the proposal advanced in February by Governor Christie. (To see the changes, consult the, so-called, Budget Score Sheet on our website at www.njslom.org/2014-FY/S3000_A4200-Scoresheet_June_21.pdf.)
A third document available on our website highlights the differences, in budget language, between the Governor’s February proposal and today’s legislation. (www.njslom.org/A4200_S3000_FY14_Language_Changes_Post_TR62113.pdf). Notable in that document is the elimination of language that would have allowed the transfer of funds from municipal affordable housing accounts to the State’s General Fund.
We commend all who contacted their Legislators on the proposed transfer of this funding. Your efforts made a meaningful difference.
We anticipate that the Governor will act on the budget legislation very soon. We will keep you posted. If you have any questions, contact Jon Moran at 609-695-3481, ext. 121.
Very truly yours,
