RE: HIRING FAIR AND EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOPS

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, The American Legion, Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMAVA), and ESGR, are announcing a Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) job fair and recently designed Employment Workshop, on Sept. 12, 2013. This is part of a nationwide effort to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment.
We hope that you can help us, as you have in the past, to get the word out to employers, veterans and spouses in your municipality.
The hiring event will be hosted by DMAVA and sponsored by those listed above, and supported by other National and State partners to provide our veterans and spouses with additional information regarding their state and federal benefits. Employer registration will begin at 8 am, and veteran registration at 8:30 am. The Employment Workshop will be conducted at 9 am, and the job fair from 10 am until 1 pm. Topics and skills discussed will include resume writing, searching for jobs online, military experience leveraging, mock interviews and networking. Mock interviewing and resume review will be available throughout the hiring fair. Veterans and their spouses are encouraged to take advantage of this event at DMAVA HQ.’s, 151 Eggerts Crossing Road, Lawrenceville, NJ, 08625.
Hiring Our Heroes, a program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, was launched in March 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. Working with The American Legion and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s vast network of state and local chambers and other strategic partners from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, our goal is to create a movement across America in hundreds of communities where veterans and military families return every day. Hiring Our Heroes has hosted more than 530 hiring fairs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. Through December 31, 2012, more than 18,400 veterans and military spouses had obtained jobs.
Veteran job seekers and employers should go to HoH.GreatJob.net to register. Employers must have current job openings, and must register. For profit organizations may not register as non-profit.
