Affordable Care Act Update

Dear Mayor:

This information could be useful to you and your constituents.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) reports that their efforts to correct technical problems with the Affordable Care Act website have resulted in improvements and that 90 percent of users are able to create accounts.

Anyone interested is invited to:

Those who would prefer to apply offline have three other options. They can:

- Call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 and begin an application over the phone with a trained Call Center representative, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. TTY users should dial 1-855-889-4325.

- Visit a trained counselor to apply in person. Find one in your area here.

- Download a paper application form and mail it in.

Those who want their coverage to start as early as January 1, 2014, need to complete the application process by the deadline, which was recently extended to December 23, 2013.
