RE: Municipal Issues 2012 – Race for U.S. Senate: The Candidates Respond
Dear Mayors and Member of the Governing Body:
The policy decisions made in Washington D.C. have a direct impact on our state’s municipalities.
Because it is so important that you, your fellow officials and especially your constituents are familiar with the senatorial candidates’ positions on municipal issues, our Legislative staff prepared a questionnaire which was completed by each of the candidates. Due to space limitations, the questions focus on broad policy-direction issues. What follows are the responses from the two major party candidates; (JK) for Joseph Kyrillos (Republican) and (RM) for Robert Menendez (Democrat).
Both of these candidates, who I have known for years, are men of great strength and considerable talent. New Jersey is lucky to have such a choice.
We thank Joseph Kyrillos and Robert Menendez for their timely response to these questions. We hope this report will help you better forecast federal level policy regarding municipal government, and plan accordingly.
Hon. Arthur R. Ondish
Mayor, Mount Arlington Township
President, New Jersey State League of Municipalities
