Re:  “Community Leadership on Energy: How to be an Energy Hero in Your Town”

Dear Mayor:

We wanted to alert you to a series of free Sustainable Jersey workshops being held around the State in the next few weeks that offer substantial benefits for your community.  The workshops are titled “Community Leadership on Energy: How to be an Energy Hero in Your Town”, and will provide participants with the following information:

  • Learn how your community can save residents and businesses money on their energy bills without using tax dollars.
  • Find out about innovative ways to leverage state programs.
  • Hear from communities that have implemented Direct Install and Home Performance with Energy Star programs that have saved money and energy for residents and businesses.

These workshops are being held in conjunction with the announcement of two new actions on Direct Install and Home Performance with Energy Star that will be available for communities going forward as additional opportunities to gain points toward certification in the Sustainable Jersey program.  Direct Install and Home Performance with Energy Star are important pieces of the New Jersey Clean Energy Program and offer valuable opportunities for businesses and residents to achieve both substantial reductions in their energy bills and positive impacts on their carbon footprint.

These workshops are designed to provide you with all of the information and resources you will need to best position your community to take advantage of the benefits offered by both of these programs.   Better still, in a tight economy it is noteworthy that both programs can be successfully implemented without using local tax dollars.

Attached please find a flyer detailing the dates and times of the upcoming workshops, and information on how to register for them.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Tony O’Donnell at the Sustainable Jersey program.  Tony can be reached at (609) 771-2921 and also by e-mail at
