Re: Support National Donate Life Month
As NJ League of Municipalities liaison to the New Jersey Organ and Tissue Sharing Network (The Sharing Network) I am pleased to announce our support of NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH this April, which offers the tremendous opportunity to make a difference in saving lives by encouraging your residents to register as organ and tissue donors at Motor Vehicles and online at www.njsharingnetwork.org.
Friday, April 20th, 2012 is NATIONAL DONATE LIFE BLUE AND GREEN DAY, a unified national effort in which you can join fellow legislators, newscasters, corporations, hospital employees, schools, and community residents in wearing blue and green to show support for organ and tissue donation and National Donate Life Month. By encouraging your staff and community to join in this effort, you can set an example that will generate local and national attention to this critical issue, spur discussion among families, and save lives by inspiring others to register as organ and tissue donors. Please also forward your Advocacy Proclamation to my attention at Mayor’s Office, 515 Watchung Avenue, Plainfield, NJ 07060 by April 15th or you can e-mail it to my Administrative Assistant, Vanessa Delgado, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Supporting National Donate Life Blue and Green Day is also a great way to rally your community in anticipation of the NJ Sharing Network Foundation’s SHARE NJ 5K WALK/RUN - TO SAVE LIVES on Sunday, June 10, 2012 in New Providence, NJ. I’d like to thank the many of you who came out last year and showed your support among the 4,000 attendees. Funding from the race will support the work of NJ Sharing Network and help increase the number of lives saved and improved through education, research and public awareness about the benefits of organ and tissue donation.
These events offer us the opportunity to work together on a very important mission – to save lives: It’s a chance to stand together in honor of those who gave, on behalf of those who received and with hope for the close to 5,000 New Jersey residents who continue to wait for a life-saving transplant.
“There is no greater gift than the gift of life.”
Additional information on all of these events is available at www.njsharingnetwork.org, or you can contact Jessica Melore at email@example.com for more information. On behalf of the people who we serve many of whom are awaiting lifesaving transplantation, on behalf of the NJSLOM and the Sharing Network, thank you for your support of these initiatives.
