Re: Sample resolution in support of A-2454 Eliminates Unemployment for Seasonal Workers

At our last League Conference, Mayors Carl Shupp of Cape May Point and Dr. Edward J. Mahaney of Cape May introduced Conference Resolution Number 2011-02, urging the state legislature to alter the eligibility requirements for unemployment insurance for seasonal public entity workers.
Recently, Assemblywoman Amy Handlin introduced A2454, which would make many of the changes we asked for in our Conference Resolution. This bi-partisan bill would prohibit all employees from receiving unemployment benefits during a period between two successive seasons if there is a reasonable assurance that the worker will perform those services in the next season.
We support this legislation because we believe it addresses the problems faced by many towns that hire seasonal employees. A sample resolution in support for your consideration is available at:
