Re: Ethics Resources from the League
Dear Mayor:
The League offers many different resources on local government ethics for municipal officials, and we wanted to make sure you were aware of them.
On our webpage, we recently updated our Ethics Resource Center. This page contains the full text of the Local Government Ethics Law, information on upcoming ethics seminars offered by the League and other agencies, as well as articles detailing different topics of local government ethics. You can find the updated page at http://www.njslom.org/ethics_resource_center.html.
The League regularly offers seminars throughout the state on local government ethics, given by League General Counsel Bill Kearns. Check our Ethics Resource Center frequently and keep an eye out for mailings from the League with dates and locations.
The League can also arrange for a seminar to be given in your municipality for all employees or for employees from a combination of municipalities. For costs and arrangements, contact Bill Dressel at BDressel@njslom.com or (609) 695-3481 x122.
Finally, our recently updated publication, the Elected Officials Handbook, also contains the full text of the Local Government Ethics Law as well as several articles of interest dealing with pay to play, conflicts of interest, and ethical conduct. You can order this publication here: http://www.njslom.org/Elected-Officials-Order-Form.pdf or by contacting Becky Wright at bwright@njslom.com or 609-695-3481 ext. 110.
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director
