Additional hearings are being planned.  Details on the additional hearing will be released when the hearing dates and locations are finalized.

In addition to the public hearings, the League of Municipalities in consultation with BPU President Lee Solomon and Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) is planning an Emergency Response Summit with selected Mayors as a follow up to the restoration efforts during Hurricane Irene.  In an effort to help improve future communications between JCP&L, elected officials, emergency responders and other State officials, the Summit's primary goal is to discuss how JCP&L could provide local officials with emergency information and updates in a timely manner.

The Emergency Response Summit will be held on September 23rd as two working sessions, 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Tinton Falls and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Morristown.  The meeting will be led by BPU President Lee Solomon will include a representative group of mayors from JCP&L service territory, executives from JCP&L and FirstEnergy, emergency response officials and other invited officials.  The purpose of the meeting is to share experiences from Hurricane Irene and is not intended to be a public forum to air dissatisfaction with the response.  Rather, it is an opportunity to make improvements to emergency communication protocols.

It is our goal that the Summit will result in the development of an improved process of communication with public officials in the event of a future disaster.   If you wish to attend the Summit, please contact Danielle Alexander at 609-802-0239 or dalexander@mbi-gs.com

Very truly yours,

William G. Dressel, Jr.
Executive Director
