RE: League compliance with the Open Public Records Act
Dear Mayor:
On Tuesday, August 23, 2011, the New Jersey Supreme Court decided that the League of Municipalities must comply with the Open Public Records Act.
This reversed a unanimous Appellate Division decision and established that the League is a “public agency” as defined by the Open Public Records Act.
The League always has been and will continue to be a transparent organization. Our mission is to be of assistance to local governments as they carry out their many and varied responsibilities. That will not change because of today’s decision.
The League is currently reviewing the full impact of yesterday’s events. We will keep you updated on any further developments.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at bdressel@njslom.com or 609-695-3481 ext. 122.
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
