Re:       Guide to Medical Leave Laws

Dear Mayor:

Recently the League has received more than a few calls regarding the different medical leave laws that might apply to local governments; specifically, the Federal Medical Leave Act, New Jersey Family Leave Insurance, and New Jersey Medical Leave.

The specifics of each, and their interplay with each other, have been a source of confusion for local government leaders.

Recently League Staff Attorney Matthew Weng has prepared a document that outlines the basic requirements of each and what effect each type of leave has on the others.  Please review this document with your personnel professionals.
