RE: Preliminary Damage Assessment for recent snowstorms
The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) is actively working on preliminary damage assessments (PDAs), with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), related to the December 26, 2010 snowstorm.
The PDA process is lengthy to insure accuracy. Currently, NJOEM is in the final stages of data collection, review, and submission for gubernatorial review and possibly Presidential approval.
NJOEM is working in the timeliest manner possible but must not allow haste to make waste, especially when there is the potential to receive financial reimbursement in these fiscally challenging times.
NJOEM will continue to work with your local and county offices of emergency management until this matter ends. Additionally, they have pledged to keep the League of Municipalities informed of any/all official decisions made by FEMA regarding the aforementioned snow event.
We urge you to discuss this issue with your local emergency management coordinator.
Very truly yours,
The Honorable Tim McDonough William G. Dressel, Jr.
Chairperson Executive Director, NJLM
