Why Should You Attend? What is Your Return on Investment?
- Certified Municipal and County Finance Officers, Certified Tax Collectors, and Planners may become involved to acquire foreclosed properties either through the In-Rem process or from a bank, with the revisions of the Third Round Rules of the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH). In the best interest of a municipality is to acquire a property lower than market rate, then collaborating with a private, non-profit, affordable housing corporation or a builder to rehab the property, adding it to the affordable housing inventory. This “vehicle” to the next round of affordable housing rules has several benefits; it keeps the taxes in the town, and is more cost effective than sending the RCAs to another town.
- Keith A. Bonchi, Esquire, and Sharon A. Lorenzini, Paralegal, of Goldenberg, Mackler, Sayegh, Mintz, Pfeffer, Bonchi, and Gill Attorneys at Law will discuss the Adoption of a Resolution by the Municipality to Foreclose on Certain Liens through the Entry of Final Judgment, the deed to the Property. Included is the “In Rem Foreclosure Process for Municipalities” manual.
- Edwin W. Schmierer, Esquire, of Mason, Griffin & Pierson, P.C., will share his expertise in the practice area of Governmental Affairs and Real Estate & Land Use with an emphasis in Municipal Affordable Housing Compliance.
- Glean resourceful information on rehabbing a property.
- Tax Officials receive Valuable Continuing Education Hours/Units.
