Re: CMPTRA Cut Briefing
(For municipalities with
Fewer than 10,000 residents)
With the prospect of massive municipal property tax relief funding cuts, from various sources, looming, the League is planning a series of briefings on different aspects of the crisis.
Our first briefing will focus on those approximately 300 communities with populations under 10,000 that face severe cuts in Consolidated Municipal Property Tax Relief Act (CMPTRA) funding. The aggregate cuts for these municipalities will be around $37 million. League President Mayor Bob Bowser, of East Orange, and League First Vice President Mayor Tim McDonough, of Hope, will preside.
DCA Commissioner Joe Doria and members of his staff will be joined by representatives from the Governor’s Office to brief the Mayors of the towns facing CMPTRA cuts on possible alternative funding sources and procedures to secure those funds. Ample time will be set aside for questions and answers.
The meeting will take place on Thursday March 6, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. It will be held in the George Washington Ballroom of Trenton’s War Memorial Building in Trenton, NJ. Enter the War Memorial Building from the Lafayette Street side, near the Marriott. Attendees arriving in Trenton via Route 29 (The John Fitch Way) should use the Exit for Memorial Drive. Go through one light, and follow signs for the State Capitol. Proceed around the employee lot, go straight through the light, and stop at the state police booth in the State House Parking Lot. THIS IS OPEN TO MAYORS, MEMBERS OF COUNCIL AND KEY APPOINTED OFFICIALS. Please let us know who will be representing your municipality by e-mailing confirmation to Ms. Donna Baltz at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, but no later than 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 5.
Very truly yours,
William G. Dressel, Jr.
