Annual Conference Info

FROM THE PRESIDENT
By Robert L. Bowser, Mayor, East Orange City

“Challenges & Changes – A Time for New Ideas”

The New Jersey State League of Municipalities 93rd Annual Conference is two months away, and as president, I would like to emphasize several important events.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 18 -  Noon - 2:00 p.m., at the Convention Center Hall A, experts will provide up-to-date information during the Consulting Period on municipal topics.   Note the new day and time.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19 - the Mayors’ Box Luncheon held in the Sheraton Crown Ballroom at noon is your chance to meet and greet fellow mayors and the League leadership.  Presentations for the Mayors’ Hall of Fame and Innovation in Governance Awards are made. Also, there is an Executive Budget Briefing. This event is by ticket only. Following the luncheon at the Convention Center, Room 322, from 2:00 to 5:15 p.m. is a valuable training clinic for newly elected mayors.  This session will provide an overview of major areas of responsibility, key contacts at the State level, and important sources of information and assistance.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 20 - 10:45 to noon in room 416 there is a session explaining the Mayors Book Club Initiative.  This NLC program fosters literacy for the very young and their families.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21 -  the Annual League Business Meeting and Breakfast at the Sheraton will commence at 9:00 a.m.

Visit www.njslom.org, Annual Conference for the latest conference details.  I look forward to seeing you in November!
