FROM THE PRESIDENT
By David DelVecchio, Mayor, Lambertville

With so much at stake for municipalities in Congress, I wanted to remind you of some League resources that you can use. Most important are our “Washington Watch” letters, which you can access at our website at http://www.njslom.org/washing.html. More of interest can be found on our “National Topics” page at http://www.njslom.org/National_topics.html, which includes a link to the National League of Cities (NLC), our eyes, ears and voice in our Nation’s Capital.

Our “Annual Federal Directory” is available directly from the League. You can access an order form at http://www.njslom.org/2007_Federal_Directory.pdf.  And for a clear and concise blueprint of how Congress operates, you can review “The Making of Our Nation’s Laws” at http://www.njslom.org/nations_laws.html. Additional copies of this colorful four-pager, which Mayors in the past have distributed to youth groups and interested citizens, can be ordered, at the reduced League Member rate, from Eric at White Eagle Printing at 609-586-2032.

Beyond these, there are a few other websites that you will find very helpful. The Library of Congress (founded by Thomas Jefferson) has the best website for all information regarding matters pending in Congress. Called “Thomas,” it can be accessed through our “Federal Links” page at http://www.njslom.org/links.html#Federal.

If all else fails, or if you have any questions or comments, please contact Jon Moran at 609-695-3481, ext. 121.
