FROM THE PRESIDENT
By Timothy McDonough, Mayor, Hope

At our December meeting your Executive Board (see list at bottom of this page) authorized the creation of three new committees to focus on emergent issues important to all New Jersey Municipalities. These new committees include:  the  2010 Municipal Census Awareness Committee ,  chaired by Mayor Randy Brown, Evesham; the  Mayors '  Educational Policy Study Committee, chaired by Mayor Jun Choi, Edison;  and the Municipal Emergency  Management Preparedness Task Force,  chaired by Mayor Chuck Chiarello, Buena Vista.

I thank Mayors Chiarello, Choi and Brown for accepting the leadership of these three committees, and addressing these important issues. But we can't expect them to do it alone. If you are interested in serving on any of these committees, please contact Bill Dressel at the League office extension 122.

Please make a note of the following important date change.  The Mayors Legislative Day has been changed to Wednesday January 14.  It will be held in the State House Annex, Committee Room 6, room 106.  This is a different date and location from early announcements so please check your calendar.  This important event will include presentations from the Administration and Legislative Leadership as well as inductions to the Elected Officials Hall of Fame.  Details and registration forms are on the League web site calendar. I hope to see you there.

NJLM 2009 LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES
http://www.njslom.org/legpriorities.html

The problems that we face cannot, for the most part, be easily divided into State issues and local concerns. Public servants at all levels of government must cooperate, in order to achieve progress on any of these long, hard walks. Let’s not waste our precious time and our potent energies on deciding who is to blame for the difficulties that face our State. Instead, we should focus on sustainable solution
