FROM THE PRESIDENT
By James Anzaldi, Mayor, Clifton

The 94th Annual Conference was again a great success as it provided local leaders with new ideas and information to help them do a better job of governing their communities. Our conference continues to be the largest in the nation, with the most educational sessions, exhibits and networking opportunities for municipal attendees. Some 18,000 local officials received a full update on key issues they will face in the coming year.

During the business meeting on Friday November 20,  I was honored to be elected President of this great organization. The League membership also elected Mayor Chuck Chiarello to the office of 1st  vice president; Mayor Dan Coranoto to 2nd Vice President and Mayor Janice Mironov to 3rd Vice President. You can view a full list of the Executive Board on the League web site. I will rely on these new board members, and those re-elected to the board, for insight and assistance throughout the coming year. There will be full information on the new board members in upcoming issues of New Jersey Municipalities magazine.

In addition, at the business meeting, the membership passed several resolutions, which will guide League policy over the next year. See a full list of resolutions on the League web site and in the January issue of New Jersey Municipalities.

Finally, you can access the executive director’s report on the State of the League through your conference program, the December issue of the magazine.

THANK YOU CONFERENCE VOLUNTEERS
-Contact Bill Dressel ext. 22

Many conference delegates wonder how the League is able to conduct the country’s largest municipal conference with a full time staff of just 17. The answer is you! In the back of the conference program, you will see a listing of mayors who served on various committees. Although the list is extensive, it cannot possibly include all the mayors who work to make our conference successful every year. Mayors play an integral role by helping to produce sessions, moderating, working on committees and auditing important sessions. Your dedicated service enables nearly 18,000 attendees to come together for one week of invaluable learning and networking each year. Thank you for making the 94th Annual Conference a great success.
