Green Builders profiles a cast of green building pioneers who have taken the leap into making their part of the “built environment” a more energy efficient and environmentally friendly place. Green Builders premiers during Earth Week and can be seen on Saturday, April 26 at 3 pm. The program will also be streamed at www.njn.net.

The documentary Green Builders features a variety of innovative projects and ideas that have helped propel with green building concept across the State. From The Willow School to PNC Bank to the first solar-hydrogen home called The Hopewell Project, people talk about why they made the move to go green, what the challenges were, and the role of smart planning.

Belmar Mayor Kenneth Pringle calls the green building movement “high tech, but it’s also like going back to the future, because Belmar is a Smart Growth model, with a downtown.  We and many other shore towns have a train station, and what people appreciate here is that we are accessible; you can ride your bike or walk around to get places.  And that’s what makes it a very environmental town, because you don’t have to get in your car every time.” Green Building is an easy sell because you’re selling livability, not sacrifice.” Mayor Pringle said.

DVD copies of Green Builders can be reserved for $24.95.  And as a special bonus NJN has partnered with the Star Ledger to give you two free passes to attend the Global Green Expo 2008 at Liberty State Park from April 25 through 27.  Place your order now: call 800-882-6622 or email your request to answers@njn.org .

Major funding for Green Builders was provided by the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation along with contributions from generous individuals. Support for the educational component for Green Builders was provided the Cape Branch Foundation.
