Re: Census 2010 Update – Address Canvassing Begins
I am please to report that the League in cooperation with the U.S. Census Bureau is making every effort to keep our communities well informed about current census activities. The U.S. Census Bureau has created an Infogram that describes in detail their Address Canvassing operation which is now underway in NJ communities and will continue through to the end of June 2009. As you know, local residents have been hired by the Bureau to canvas neighborhoods to assist in updating and verifying their master address list for mailing of the 2010 Census questionnaire. This information will be most helpful to residents, municipal employees and local authorities as it also describes how to identify address canvassers in the community.
We are providing this alert to your office to ensure that League members receive an electronic copy for distribution to their communities. Please consult the Leagues website and League magazine for regular updates on Census developments.
I would also like to mention that the Census Bureau will be conducting other operations between now and Decennial Day and will keep you informed as these operations are implemented.
Attached is an English and Spanish PDF version of the Infogram. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Ligia Jaquez, Deputy Regional Director of the New York Regional Census Center at (212) 365-3100.
Our thanks for your on going support and cooperation as we prepare for the 2010 Census.
Very truly yours,
Hon. Randy Brown, Mayor of Evesham
Member League Executive Board and Chairman
of the 2010 Municipal Census Awareness Committee
