Re: Retirement Workshops Available for Local PERS Members
The Division of Pension and Benefits has issued guidance regarding their retirement workshops for members of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS). Due to the increased demand from members inquiring about retirement they will be holding retirement workshops. The workshops will provide a step-by-step approach to explain topics that include retirement benefits, beneficiary options, group life insurance, taxability of the pension and health benefits in retirement.
The workshops are only for PERS members who will be retiring as of July 1 or August 1, 2010. Workshops will be held at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and are currently scheduled for May 10, 19, 24, 28 and June 4, 7, 11, 15, 18, 21, 25 and 30. All workshops will be held at the New Jersey Forensic Science Technology Center, 1200 Negron Drive, Hamilton.
Seating at the workshops is limited and members interested in attending must register online at www.state.nj.us/treasury/pensions and click the link for “Retirement Workshops”. If attending, members must print an Estimate of Retirement Benefits using the Members Benefits Online System (MBOS) and bring it to the workshop. Estimates obtained from MBOS are the same estimates obtained when visiting the Division’s offices and use identical salary and service information. Paper retirement applications will not be available nor accepted at the workshops.
If members are unable to use MBOS they should contact their Human Resources Representative or Benefits Administrators who may obtain retirement estimates for employees using the Employer Pensions and Benefits Information Connection (EPIC).
Please share this notice with your department heads and employees who are considering retiring as of July 1 or August 1, 2010. For additional information contact Lori Buckelew at 609-695-3481 x112 or email@example.com
Very truly yours,
