2016 League Conference Resolutions
One of the most important functions of the Annual League Conference is the adoption of resolutions from our member municipalities.  These resolutions play a major part in setting the League’s legislative priorities for the upcoming year.  We encourage you to consider the resolutions process as an opportunity to help craft good legislation to improve the institution of municipal government.

Conversations on race relations, justice, policing and equality
The National League of Cities (NLC), the League’s national affiliate, is working with the White House and the U.S. Conference of Mayors to encourage local officials to convene 100 community conversations on race relations, justice, policing and equality.

Important Affordable Housing Ruling on “Gap” Issue
Today, the Appellate Division ruled that municipal affordable housing obligations do not include a separate and distinct “gap period” calculation.

Local Governments Urge State Leaders to Restore Transportation Funding
The New Jersey State League of Municipalities (NJSLOM) and the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) are urging State leaders to reach a fair and equitable compromise on reauthorizing the insolvent Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) in the wake of Governor Chris Christie’s decision to declare a state of emergency and shut down all work funded by the TTF, which includes vital local road and bridge projects.

In recognition of the many municipal governing body members who are selflessly serving for twenty or more years, the League of Municipalities is pleased to once again accept nominations for the Elected Officials Hall of Fame.
